Each year about 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, but less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute's budget is dedicated to childhood cancer research.The primary focus of the Monterey County-based Key for a Cure Foundation, which was founded in 2015, is to advocate and raise funds for pediatric cancer research initiatives that lead to less toxic forms of cancer treatment and a cure for cancer.Pediatric cancer research can save lives and innovative treatments can significantly improve the quality of life for survivors.
