Kathy DeVries is a natural science illustration artist who combines her love of fiber arts, painting, and design to create brightly colored signature quilted home furnishings. Inspired by the plants and animals of the Great Lakes ecosystem, her original modern paintings and patterns are incorporated in unique quilted wallhangings, signatures pillows, table top designs, throws, and more.Prior to her art career, Kathy had a successful thirty plus year career as a corporate marketing and communications executive. Throughout those years, she immersed herself in quilting workshops and art classes until finally enrolling full-time in the rigorous Rhode Island School of Design Natural Science Illustration Program in 2021. She will complete the program in Spring 2024 while also studying painting and drawing through the Yale-Peabody and Chicago Botanical Gardens Natural Science Illustration Programs.Kathy’s recent work has been shown at juried exhibits including the 2023 International Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, Wisconsin Quilt Show, and Wisconsin Craft Biennial. She is Development Chair of the Wisconsin Craft Board and a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and Wisconsin Visual Artists.
