Over the course of a weekend, Joe and M.D. take you on journey of lighting, composition, and postproduction. Students will see what it takes to craft effective light, work with models, and learn the trade secrets of enhancing the photo after it’s made. We are keeping the class to a limited number to ensure hands-on instruction.This intensive course covers lighting for photographers at any level, both in studio, and on location. Starting with a lecture explaining the nuances of camera tethering, the class will dive in with Joe as he demonstrates light shaping tools, and the effect and feel of light on your subject. From there, it’s hands on in the studio, working with models in a controlled environment.Next day, Virginia City! One of the mandates for all photographers is to bring the skills of the studio, and the control of light, out to a location, and Virginia City is a legendary place, brimming with character and characters. The day will be a full day working with models, assessing locations, and creating portfolio quality images. On location, photographers have to learn to blend artificial light with the light they encounter out in the world, be it a dim interior or blazing desert sun, and this venue will present storied opportunities to do both.On the last day, the class will engage in critique and discussion of the images made, and then move into a workflow and postproduction demo as only MD can offer.
