Jo Cosme is a Native Boricua multimedia artist whose work confronts U.S. imperialism, disaster capitalism, and Puerto Rico’s ongoing colonial reality. Displaced from Borikén to Seattle after Hurricane María, she transforms personal history into lenticular prints and interactive installations that expose the polished façade of “paradise” while uncovering deeper truths. Her work has been exhibited at Museo de las Américas (PR), Whatcom Museum, Dab Art Gallery (Los Angeles), and Galerie Rivoli 59 (Paris). Recent honors include fellowships from MASS MoCA, Artist Trust, McMillen Foundation, Pratt Fine Arts Center, and 4Culture, with work recently acquired by the SEATAC Airport’s permanent collection. In November 2025, Cosme will present an expanded version of Welcome to Paradise: ¡Viva Puerto Rico Libre! at ARTS at King Street Station in Seattle.
