Follow Jenn Caron & The Michaud's ElvesIn 2022, Ian was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, in his right leg. After 30 weeks of intense chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and ultimately two amputations, Ian completed treatment with the strength and spirit that continues to define him. He now uses a prosthetic leg and has adapted with courage, humor, and determination. This past December, we received news that no one should ever have to hear twice: Ian was diagnosed with a second case of osteosarcoma—this time in his left femur. Ian is once again preparing for the fight of his life.Ian began a new chemotherapy protocol that includes nine 3-week cycles. After the first two cycles, he underwent surgery to remove the part of his femur containing the tumor - what we call a limb salvage surgery (inserting a metal rod to replace the bone).Through it all, Ian remains the bright, brave, and sweet soul we love so much. We don’t know what the months ahead will bring, but we do know this: Ian is not alone. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate another round of treatment, decisions, and healing. He’s in pain, but his heart is strong—and we are doing our best to hold onto every moment of normalcy and joy we can.Thank you for loving him right alongside us.
