After moving to San Francisco for 12 years, Molly returned to her beloved hometown and has won the hearts of the city through her innovative cocktails, trendy bar, and community engagement.Molly has immersed herself in the knowledge of classic cocktails and fine spirits, studying the history and proper preparation of classic cocktails from books primarily. Her focus lies in cocktails created in the 1700s to the 1950s. Wellmann uses classic cocktails as a base for creating new and innovative drinks containing simple syrups, bitters, liquors and freshly-squeezed juices.She is the author of the book, "Handcrafted Cocktails."Molly is honored to have been able to work at many popular, restaurants, and bars throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. She currently owns Japp's - Since 1897 in Over-the-Rhine,which was voted one of the top 18 cocktail bars in the country by Esquire Magazine in 2016. Molly has also been featured in local and national magazines, such as Midwest Living, Cincinnati Magazine, Cincinnati Enquirer, People Magazine, Cincinnati Business Courier and CityBeat Cincinnati. Molly is the mixology contributor for Bourbon+ Magazine and a regular speaker at Moonshine University in Louisville. She has been voted Best Mixologist/Bartender in Cincinnati by CityBeat Magazine for the past 7 years. Molly Wellmann won the Cincinnati Partnership Award from the Cincinnati Business Courier (2016), the EllenBattelle Dietrich Award from the Covington Ladies Home (2018), and the President’s Award from the Cincinnati Chapter of The Public Relations Society of America (2018). Molly was named Best Bartender/Owner in the country by Nightclub and Bar Media in 2019.
