I am running for County Council in District 7 of Anne Arundel County because I think our current political system is broken. I truly believe that change begins at the local level and I have some specific ideas to put that change into motion. I want to focus on issues related to (1) local quality of life, (2) education, and (3) political voice. This needs to be done in a way that brings both empathy and evidence into our public discourse so that we can move forward together as a community. I was raised in a Navy Family that holds a long history in Anne Arundel County. After graduating from Arundel High School, I moved to the west coast to attend college. While there, I met my beautiful wife, Lauren, and moved abroad to Mexico City in 2008 where my wife and I spent most of our time working as teachers at The American School Foundation. While living abroad, we welcomed our two wonderful children into our lives. We moved back to Anne Arundel County once our oldest child was able to start kindergarten and settled into our life back home in Crofton. I left the classroom as a High School History and Government teacher to become a full time Phd student and Policy Researcher in the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I study Public Policy at the city and county level and perform research in the fields of Education Policy and Immigration Policy. I attend a local church, Renovate Life Church, and have coached my daughter's soccer team here in Crofton for the past three seasons. I am a member of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management and the Association for Education Finance and Policy.
