The society includes local and international students and staff members from the surrounding Eastern suburb Muslim communities. It has grown from just a few members in 1969 and flourished into a modern community that upholds the high moral and spiritual values of Islam and working toward creating an inclusive Australian Muslim Society. As a religious society with numerous members, ISOC has been entrusted by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with good facilities to help meet its member's needs.
