The Indiana Guard Reserve (IGR) is the State Defense Force for the State of Indiana. The purpose of the IGR is to augment the National Guard during emergencies within the state, especially when some or all of the National Guard is deployed. The IGR has a lot of soldiers that were former members of the National Guard and other military services, but military experience is not a necessity. IGR soldiers are attorneys and teachers, police officers, firefighters, students and everything in between. Being a member of the IGR is a way to “give back” to your community, while experiencing the commitment and camaraderie of a military unit. If interested in joining contact email:recruiting@igr.in.gov
