ABOUT IITAGH:The Indian Institutes of Technology Alumni of Greater Houston (IITAGH) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2004 to meet the following goals:1. Connect:- Help IITAGH members to connect socially and professionally- Support the assimilation into the Houston community of new members- Assist recent graduates from the IIT institutions2. Develop:- Provide professional and career development for its members3. Give Back:- Contribute to the local community- Encourage and recognize aspiring youth- Provide guidance to college students- Support continued education for its membersWe are an inclusive organization open to everyone. Over the last decade, the organization membership has grown and in 2013 we hosted the immensely successful IIT 2013 Global Conference, a 3-day, 100 speakers, 1600+ attendee conference at the Hilton-Americas in Houston, TX (www.iit2013.org).Our membership base has grown to over 1200 members and we continue to look for volunteers to get involved with our various programs including:Planned Social Events – Annual Picnic, Bowling, etcAd-Hoc Social Events – Cricket, Table Tennis TournamentsNetworking EventsMentor-a-Grad ProgramProfessional Speaker SeriesUniversity Campus EventsSkill Development WorkshopsBreakfast Career Mentor SessionsCommunity Support and Youth Support ProgramsIIT Faculty Hosting SessionsWe have helped alumni and many others in their professional transitions. We have helped them and their spouses find jobs and embark on entrepreneurship, and have provided career counseling for other transitions. We have created countless long lasting friendships between families–built on the foundation of education at an IIT. Finally, we have helped local high school students improve their math and science skills, thus improving their chances of professional success in life. For its educating efforts, IITAGH was awarded by the Literacy Advance of Houston in 2008.
