Holly Caracappa is a classical musician, writer and above all elsehuman-merely-being. Classically trained in opera and theater, with decades of movement study and contemplative practice, she has always seen music and all art as an extension of her spiritual life since beauty is but the transcdental made manifest.This is Not a Performanceis a salon series she produces with colleagues in conjunction with the solstices and equinoxes to help digital-age cosmopolitains remember their roots: as human-merely-beings who have evolved to know themselves and heal themselves in collective artistic exchange. The series aims to curate unexpected programs that integrate beauty and art into the quotidian to ultimatley inspire and teach others how to live life as art--not only for individual edification, but for the betterment of the collective which is--of course--but an extension of the individual soul.With a background in intellectual and creative capital and rigorous training in Alexander technique, Gurdjieff work, contact improvisation, Vedanta as well as classical performance, Holly is committed to creating work--in music, prose, movement and the amalgamation thereof--that wrestles with how art can transcend the ditigal age's crisis of meaning that's subjugated and sequestered "art" to institutions rather than the province of our everyday lives.
