Actor, writer and producer, Herman “J.R.” Johnson, a Mississippi resident who is rising and making quite the buzz as an upcoming actor, writer, and film producer. The Chicago native began in theatre at an early age. His passion for creating and performing did not stop short of music. His creative abilities and passions grew and led him to study theatre which later broadened into film, here in Mississippi. So far Johnson has performed in half a dozen professional main stage theatre productions. And he’s just getting started. In his productions, Johnson has showcased many talents young and old. Some he’s met while performing at New Stage Theatre, and from local film/acting classes and other productions. It is through those connections credits his detailed perspective and an eye for the art he loves and enjoys. In 2021, he co-starred as “Oklahoma Kid” in a western loosely based on true events, titled “ Texas Red” that's now streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi. Texas Red is also available for purchase on walmart.com and amazon. Most recently Johnson has released a mini pilot series on Amazon Prime & Tubi titled “Get It On Jones” from his own production company Story Mode Productions alongside Hidden Planet Productions .
