About Hella Nuts

Living a plant-based life is a fast-growing conscious group in the Bay Area as well as around the world. Chef Mieko and Chef Kami have noticed that the Bay Area has little to offer when it comes to all-vegan establishments. Many serve soy and gluten products which are allergens to many people, it is known that most all-vegan restaurants use soy oils, tofu or soy protein to aid in low operating cost.Soy is 82% GMO and also a cancer causing ingredient, therefore Hella Nuts™ will not serve any soy products and will have many gluten-free options.  Chef Mieko & Chef Kami began their plant-based journey in 2018, with a background in cooking they gradually began preparing healthy dishes for friends and family. In doing this, they began to notice all of the processed plant-based items that were now in stores.After reading the ingredients on packaged products and realizing they were eating a vegan form of junk food,  they began developing recipes from local produce and nuts, creating healthy home-style recipes from natural ingredients without the supermarket chemicals and fillers. The Vegan duo began "Hella Nuts ™ Plant-Based Podcast" and an Instagram page  "@hella_nuts" and it instantly grew to over 1k followers, mostly local foodies who were all dying to try the posted food.Hella Nuts™ began doing pop-ups around the East Bay and quickly the "Hella Loaded Taco" was popularized and talked about all over town. Other delicious treats include the "Sticky Peach Surprise", "Good Ol' German Chocolate Cake" and "Smackin' Chik'n &Waffles".
