Follow Hawaiian Historical SocietyEstablished in 1892, The Hawaiian Historical Society (HHS) is a non-profit, membership-based organization, library and archives. Queen Liliʻuokalani was the first royal patroness of HHS, which was founded during her reign. Our mission for over 132 years preserve, perpetuate, and encourage the study of the history of Hawaiʻi. HHS publishes books in English and Hawaiian, and The Hawaiian Journal of History. The library and archives, located on the grounds of Hawaiian Mission Houses, contains an outstanding collection of published works, manuscripts, photographs, visual works on canvas and paper, and historical objects; which represents a powerful breadth of material from the 1810s to present made available to the public.
