Follow Harlem Writers UnitedFormerly known as Harlem Neighborhood Writers (2014-2021) and rebranded in 2021, Harlem Writers United is a volunteer-run collective of emerging and published writers, predominantly from industry-underrepresented backgrounds across many lines of identity. Some of our most notable members include Celeste Rita Baker (“Back, Belly & Side”, Aqueduct Press, 2015; “De Motherjumpers”, Strange Horizons, 2018; “Glass Bottle Dancer”, Lightspeed, 2020, 2021 Locus World Fantasy Award for Best Short Story), Angela Dews (“Harlem Hit & Run, 2021; Harlem Writers Guild, Author), Shawn Frazier (“The Hoodoo Nigger”, Quail Bell, 2015; “Jacob and The Owl”, Rosebud Magazine, Mary Shelley Contest Winner; “Water Walkers”, Fiyah, 2023), and P. Anthony Michael (“Zipline”, Atmosphere Press, 2022). Our mission is to bridge the gap between writers, peer feedback, and industry knowledge through workshops and peer-led events.
