My name is Hans Unkles and I own and operate the Scottish fishing vessel Lorna Jane. In 2022, I converted what is currently the only commercial fishing boat in the UK to be powered solely by electric, with battery storage as her only fuel source; as far as we are aware, she is the only fully electric commercial fishing boat worldwide. This boat has now worked successfully at a commercial level for almost three years, covering the distance from Scotland to Canada and back, and burnt no diesel whatsoever!
