Follow Festival Sete Sóis Sete LuasThe Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas was born in 1992, as cultural connection between Italy and Portugal, and nowadays it involves 10 countries of Mediterranean (Croatia, France, Italy, Morocco, Slovenia, Spain and Tunisia) and countries with Portuguese speaking world (Brazil, Cape Verde, Portugal) in a continuous and mutual exchange. The Festival is a project of artistic mobility which promotes arts and cultures of each countries in this large net, organizing contemporary popular music concerts, exhibitions (painting, sculptures, photography, video art, street art…), musical, artistic and gastronomic residences, original discography, conferences. The honorary presidents from 1993 were the Nobel Prize for literature José Saramago, from whose novel “Memorial do Convento” originates the name of the Festival (Sete Sois and Sete Luas are the characters) and Dario Fo. The honorary president of Republic of Cape Verde is Jorge Carlos Fonseca and from 2016 the Nobel Prize for Peace is Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh. The festival received the support of the European Union with Caleidoscopio, Cultura2000 programs for its European dimension and for cultural quality of the project. It has been the subject of two auditions in the European Parliament (2009 and 2013) and it received the Caja Granada Prize for the International Collaboration (2009). It received the support from the European Foundation Anna Lindh in 2011and those of European Union with the EuropAid Program in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 for the develop of the Festival SSSL in the islands of Cape Verde archipelago.
