Suicide is a people problem, yet people in crisis are not the problem. Depression, despair, anxiety, pain from emotional, mental, physical, or spiritual wounds leading to loss of hope is the problem. Relational poverty is widespread in today's culture. The church community offers a spiritual foundation to empower change through increased connectedness among its people. By creating a safe environment that accepts vulnerability and personal struggles, the church is positioned to take active steps and address the problem of suicide. Think 3-2-1 crisis intervention strategy and be kind model workshops create a climate of learning that helps individuals identify solutions for well-being. By reducing barriers to dialogue and stigma associated with seeking help, and instilling means to practice kindness god’s way, a spiritual awakening occurs that can lead someone to safety.
