Dorine Poawui

My name is Dorine Poawui, a mother of two sons. Owner of Sierra Leone Festival USA (Salone Festival) and was the Founder of Putting Sierra Leone Artists First (PSLA1). I am philanthropist, businesswoman, and entrepreneur. I presently reside in Bowie MD working as a License Cosmetologist and an event manager. I am a U.S. and Sierra Leone Citizen and absolutely proud to be a native of Sierra Leonean and descendent of the Poawui and Kargobai family from Damballa Village.As a philanthropist and a business woman, I work closely with all of the major Sierra Leone Musicians and producers. My love and passion is to see African music grow beyond Africa and the African community. The straight from god has allowed me to work in the African entertainment. I had the opportunity to invite 26 Sierra Leone entertainers to travel abroad. With the help of my sponsors, partners, team, and believers, we were able to create history for these newcomers in our community.In 2008 I started a non-profit foundation DPLC Inc. which focus was to provide additional relief and support to the villages in Sierra Leone by providing home necessities for some villages. These charitable items include clothing, shoes, bed sheets, pillows, school supplies, and non-prescription pharmaceutical supplies to name few. During the years I have devoted myself to most Sierra Leone projects and charities to help improve the lives the once in need.With PSLA1and Salone Festival Inc., my focus is to provide a platform for our well talented Sierra Leone Artist. Provide hands on support for current and upcoming artists that are ready for this movement. My goal is show the world the many talents of our country. My partner Pastor James Watkins and Mr. King Milan, Allister Coward and I intent to expose the hidden talents that have been untouched in Sierra Leone music production to the world not just in our Sierra Leone community. I am committed to excellence of this project to the fullest ability and will do all in god’s power to make this a success.
