Business Sisters - Consœurs en Affaires

Doreen is an Entrepreneurship Researcher and Ecosystem Leader. She founded Business Sisters (Consœurs en Affaires for our Francophone Business Sisters) as a social enterprise that offers online and live events, peer-to-peer learning and gender-smart tools for women entrepreneurs.Her work is focused on the unique needs and passions of women business owners, especially those based in small towns and rural areas. She believes happy communities are fostered through collaboration, inclusion and diversity.Doreen’s career started in the hotel industry. She left her last corporate position as VP Marketing for The Sutton Place Grande Hotels Group 20 years ago because she was frustrated with the lack of flexibility of the job as a young mom. So she chose the entrepreneurial route. Together with her husband Heinz, a former executive chef, she founded Greenfield Services Inc., a management firm dedicated to the meetings industry and non-profit organizations. At its peak the company employed 23 people. They sold the business to an employee in November 2016.From that experience Doreen certainly knows about the difficult juggling act that women entrepreneurs are compelled to perform, every day.
