By supporting student programs, internships, land acquisition, facility enhancements, and outreach initiatives, DDWS fosters environmental stewardship and strengthens the Refuge’s ability to protect vital habitats. Through strategic partnerships with like-minded conservation organizations, our efforts extend beyond the Refuge’s borders, ensuring a lasting impact on wildlife and communities alike.From its humble beginnings with seven founding members in 1982,DDWS has grown into a thriving community of thousands of members, each playing a role in preserving and protecting the Refuge.Today, the Society’s support extends far beyond its original mission. It now provides financial assistance for interns, funds new exhibits and trails, leads land acquisition campaigns, and spearheads advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., ensuring that conservation remains a national priority.
