Every Tuesday evening since 1992, Dignity Diner has served a free, restaurant-style, three-course meal. This weekly dinner has been a constant and unwavering resource for over 32 years for our guests, who are primarily neighbors experiencing homelessness or food insecurity. Meals are served rain or shine, on holidays and through pandemics, and with kindness, respect, and of course, dignity.In the past year, in addition to serving a fresh salad, entree, and dessert to our 50-60 guests each week, we’ve implemented some additional perks. We now show movies most nights–a practice that was previously limited to winter evenings in order to give guests an opportunity to stay in our warm space for longer. We provide playing cards and other games for our guests to enjoy with each other. We’ve introduced monthly birthday celebrations, complete with cakes. Most excitingly, we now offer take-home sack lunches for all attendees so that our guests can have an additional small meal on hand after they leave Dignity Diner for the evening.
