About Diaspora Showcase LLC

Looking for ways to present Africa, in her most noble form, Diaspora Showcase was created by Kwevi Quaye, and the first three shows co-produced b y the eminent professor, Dr. Anselm Omoike in 2004. It features the Fashion, Music, Dance, and Food of the five regions of the continent. The annual showcase also provide visibility and spotlight to humanitarian organizations that have made significant contributions to Africa.  The uniqueness of the Diaspora Showcase is how Africa is presented, in a very exciting entertainment format. In 2004, "The Princess and The Porcupine", a fashion show, which was more like a fashion story, evolved on the runway of Arizona to rave reviews. At the 2007 showcase "Heritage", the classical composition of Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" was interpreted with a new arrangement that integrated the elements of the African "Talking Drum" to Baroque music. "Jazz and  The Classics" presents arrangements by Kwevi Quaye, Tunde Jegede and Doc Jones for the 2016 show, as it takes the audience on a musical journey, with Michelle Coltrane, daughter of the legendary John Coltrane, interpreting the songs of the sensational South Africa vocalist, Miriam Makeba; through the interplay of fashion collections and music.  Acclaimed as the pre-eminent African event in America by U.S. media such as GET OUT/NIGHT LIFE magazine, Diaspora Showcase continues to make innovative strides with fresh ideas. The show has received honors such as "Pick of The Week", "Best Bet" and the ADDY awards. www.diasporashowcase.com
