Follow Dianne HodgesI am an independent scholar, and a fifty-year South Shore resident with twenty years of community advocacy in Chicago.I am a Senior with 30 years of customer service with a Fortune 500 company.I was an entrepreneur for approximately 20 years with a futuristic view on holistic living.I conducted workshops, directed and produced cable and radio programs centered on nutrition and emotional healing. I conducted energy classes in belly dance fitness and meditation movement for the City of Chicago Department of Aging for 15 years and facilitated Meditation classes during COVID for Edelman public relations. With several certifications in Energy work I have used various methods to transform spaces in our community to activate care concern and action with no excuses. My greatest achievement is the South Merrill Community Garden in the South Shore neighborhood. The garden is an anchor of love amid chaos.Currently, I am serving my second AmeriCorps program createdfor Senior's as a research study assistant and community liaison. My years of networking and support to the South Shore community provide invaluable resources and insights to the Urban Health Lab at UChicago. By fostering relationships with local organizations, stakeholders, and community members I help facilitate collaboration and trust, which are essential for effective public health interventions. The collaboration strengthens the relevance of the Lab’s work and also promotes community buy-in, which is crucial for the success of health initiatives. I love working in this intergenerational hub of great minds and compassionate hearts. It's a great place to learn new skills, share wisdom, and have fun!
