In general, our programs are designed to teach our youth and young adults, life and leadership skills at every stage of their development (Kingdoms in Different Stages). We creatively engage them in developmental activities that help to improve academic achievement, decrease truancy, decrease insubordinate behavior, and ultimately result in increased high school graduation rates. Our youth are given tools and resources that set them up for success on the collegiate level. They are given the community support they need as they transition into adulthood. But because we also care about their holistic development, we also provide them with the basics as well. We provide meals during every programming event, as we believe that children cannot learn on empty stomachs. And because we also know that so much of what affects the development of a child starts in the family, we offer monthly “Grief, Loss, & Trauma” sessions for youth and adult family members who are coping with a life changing event.But we don’t stop there – not only do we expose our youth to the wonderful nuances of the city they live in, we also expose them to worlds of learning that extend beyond. Our youth are learning sign language, as well as languages like Chinese and Spanish. They experience field trips, workshops, and participate in community service projects and are developed to become leaders throughout their communities. We even provide teens with opportunities to earn summer jobs with us so that they begin to develop great work ethics.
