About Dan Crenshaw

Dan Crenshaw, Lieutenant Commander, USN (Ret) is a Houston native running for Congress to represent CD-2. A former Navy SEAL, Dan served honorably including several overseas deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, and Korea. On June 15, 2012 Dan was hit by an IED blast during an operation in Helmand province, Afghanistan. After spending several days in a medically-induced coma, Dan awoke to learn that he was completely blind in his right eye with limited vision in his left eye. Following this life-changing trauma, Dan refused to give up and continued serving with two more deployments, in 2014 and 2016, respectfully. After ten years in the SEAL Teams, Dan medically retired in 2016 and went on to earn his Master's Degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Dan and his wife Tara are committed to public service and both have found ways to give back to their country and their community. Dan believes in service before self and understands that there is no higher calling than service to the American people. Although he can no longer fight on the battlefield, Dan hopes to continue the fight in Washington and provide leadership that makes all Texans proud.
