Contact Care Line addresses the need for immediate access telephone crisis services. Our goal is to provide round-the-clock access for people in need. Through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening, CONTACT’s trained volunteers alleviate despair, isolation, distress, and suicidal feelings in callers from East Tennessee and beyond. There are no fees for our services and we largely depend on individual donors for funding. Since we are a 501c3 non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible.Contact Care Line serves as the Knoxville area's first line of defense against suicide-related injury and death. While suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, it is preventable.Contact Care Line is a member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (the Lifeline), a network of more than 160 crisis centers across the country that answers calls for help from a single, national, toll-free number: 1-800-273-TALK (8255). In 2018, the Lifeline routed more than 2,000,000 calls to each caller’s nearest crisis center. Through the Lifeline, highly trained staff members at Contact Care Line assist members of our own East Tennessee community and refer them to local mental health and social services.
