About Chautari

Inspired by the communal Nepali gathering spot, Chautari is a third space rooted in the ethos of radical hospitality that welcomes everyone from all walks of life. It’s not only a space for leisure but also a place where we can heal and help bridge the racial, social, and economic divides in our society one conversation at a time. It’s a sanctuary for personal growth, creative expression, and mutual support because we wholeheartedly believe that our quality of life is directly tied to the quality of the relationships we have with others. We believe that true community arises from authentic connection where every voice is heard, and every individual finds belonging. We aspire to create a space that is self-sufficient and fully sustained by the members of our community. By fostering a welcoming environment of inclusivity, we aim to build bridges between diverse individuals and communities, particularly those that have historically been marginalized. Our philosophy centers on the power of human connection and its capacity to heal, empower, and transform lives. We value shared experiences, storytelling, and cultural exchange because we believe these are the roots for a compassionate and resilient society.Chautari is not just a place to gather; it is a creative hub for ideas, a platform for self expression, and a space where people can grow together. Here, we honor the richness of Nepali culture while embracing the diversity of St. Louis to create a space where we can engage meaningfully with one another. Through our workshops, events, and daily interactions, we aim to foster a sense of belonging that uplifts all who enter. Our commitment to the community is reflected not only in our service but also in our mission to provide opportunities, support local talent, and advocate for social equity. Chautari is a space for reflection and connection, where we sit, pause, and reimagine a future built on mutual respect, understanding, and collective well-being. Here, everyone has a seat at the table.
