At Northwell Health, we understand that the transgender community is diverse with very specific needs and challenges. That's why our Center for Transgender Care was founded in 2016. It provides multispecialty, culturally sensitive care for the transgender and gender non-conforming community in our region. This comprehensive care meets the health needs of patients at various ages and stages of the transitioning process.The Center offers primary care (including routine physicals), immunization, HIV prevention (PrEP) and treatment, screening for sexually transmitted infections and endocrine care (evaluation and treatment with hormone replacement therapy or puberty blockers). Our experienced mental health clinicians provide psychotherapy around gender transition issues, health and sexuality education, risk reduction counseling, and surgical specialty care for gender affirming surgery (i.e., transitioning). This includes a plastic surgeon, breast surgeon and urologic care.
