Brianna Amingwa, affectionately known as Ranger Bri, is a dedicated educator. She is passionate about sharing nature, science, and environmental education with both nature-lovers and “city kids” like herself! Brianna is a Michigan native, originally from Metro Detroit and a graduate of Michigan State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in animal science.Brianna served as a park ranger for over 10 years on federal public lands. In 2021, she was named a Global Top 30 Under 30 Environmental Educator by the North American Association of Environmental Educators. Prior to moving to Maryland, Brianna was an Environmental Education Supervisor and managed a robust field-trip based education program serving nearly 18,000 students annually in Southwest Philadelphia. She trained teachers to utilize the outdoor classroom, managed school partnerships, and wrote a multitude of curriculum- and project-based lesson plans for students from Pre-K to high school. Despite her many responsibilities, Brianna's most treasured time was spent engaging directly with students on trails and in their classrooms.Brianna is trained in culturally-responsive education, trauma-informed techniques, and is intimately familiar with Next Generation Science Standards. She is also a Level III Archery Instructor Trainer certified by USA Archery. She founded Deeply Rooted Outdoor Education in February 2023 to focus her energy and expertise on strengthening her communities' connections with the nature. Discovering the world of conservation has opened many doors for Brianna, and she now works to do the same for others.
