The Boston Women’s Workforce Council (BWWC) leads a unique public-private partnership between the Mayor’s Office and Boston employers dedicated to eliminating the gender/racial wage gap. We do so by identifying the visible and invisible barriers to women’s advancement and driving action to knock those barriers down.Our most important work towards this goal is recruiting Greater Boston employers to sign on to the 100% Talent Compact. Through this pledge, Compact Signers are committing to examining their own salary data and practices and making changes where needed.The BWWC aggregates this information anonymously to create a biennial report on our progress. This data, along with our knowledge of interventions that work, makes the BWWC the “go-to” resource for employers looking to eliminate gender/ racial wage gaps.It is hard work, but as Bostonians we have never shied away from a challenge. We are only going to eliminate the gender/racial wage gaps with enhanced collaboration, authenticity, and commitment to examination and action. The BWWC model offers just that, and our 100% Talent Compact Signers have heeded the call.
