The As One Foundation exists to close the health disparity gap and improve the quality of life for individuals affected by sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. Founded in honor of Devaughn Darling, who passed away due to sickle cell trait exertion during football practice, the foundation is committed to education, awareness, and action to save lives and uplift communities.Our mission is to empower and educate communities about sickle cell disease and trait, while promoting holistic wellness and equitable access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunity.Events We HostThe As One Foundation hosts a wide range of community-focused events throughout the year, including:Blood Drives & Marrow Registries – Encouraging diverse blood and marrow donations to support patients with sickle cell and other conditions.SICKLE SANTA Toy, Blood & Marrow Drive – An annual holiday event bringing joy to pediatric sickle cell patients and their families.Darling Dash 5K/10K Run/Walk – A signature event held in memory of Devaughn Darling to raise awareness and support for sickle cell programs.Operation Hydration – A wellness initiative promoting hydration education and resources for sickle cell warriors.Educational Workshops & Health Forums – Sessions focused on reproductive health, financial literacy, workforce development, and healthcare access, especially in underserved communities.Special Fundraisers & Community Engagement Events – Including sports tournaments, advocacy campaigns, and virtual giving days.Through these events and programs, we build stronger, healthier communities—As One.
