Amber Dale is an adjunct instructor at Black Hawk College, teaching graphic design and computer art classes. Amber graduated from the University of Iowa in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. She is an interdisciplinary artist, working primarily with alternative and historical photographic processes, though she enjoys exploring a variety of mediums. Her practice leans into slowness, play, and imperfection—treating the darkroom (or makeshift version of one) as both a workspace and a place to think. She believes art-making can be a kind of meditation, a way to sift through memory, emotion, and all the messy bits in between. Much of Amber’s recent work explores ideas of home, family, and personal history. She uses art as a way to think—about herself, about the world, and about the things we’re taught to believe and the truths we figure out for ourselves.
