Follow Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Rho Xi Omega ChapterAlpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Xi Omega Chapter was chartered by 80 dynamic women in 1988 to serve the Baltimore, Maryland community. In 1990, the chapter established a charitable nonprofit organization, Cultured Pearls of Service, Incorporated (formerly known as Rho Xi Omega Charities, Incorporated), as its public service arm to more effectively manage its programs of service and expand funding opportunities. Currently, the chapter’s programs of service include five Targets: 1. HBCU for Life: A Call to Action; 2. Women's Healthcare and Wellness; 3. Building Your Economic Legacy; 4. The Arts!; and 5. Global Impact. Rho Xi Omega Chapter has awarded well over $125,000 in scholarships to college bound students and is the proud recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for its programs of service at its regional and national conferences. These include Midsize Chapter of the Year and Basileus of the Year (1993), Second Place Large Chapter of the Year (2005), Third Place Chapter of the Year (2002 Midsize, 2006 and 2013 Large), Economic Security Award (2010), Social Justice & Human Rights Award (2012, 2013), and Economic Security (2014).
