Ayo Handy-Kendi is a Master Teacher of Breath, founder of Black Love Day, Feb. 13th, founder/CEO of PositivEnergyWorks which offers training in Optimum Life Breathology (O.L.B.) and is the founder director of the African American Holiday Association (AAHA) For over 50 years, she has contributed to many movements -- cultural, healing, entrepreneurship, personal development empowerment, diversity , social justice, and pro-peace, always connecting the dots between culture, diversity and wellness. As a Certified Breathologist and Workshop Trainer, she has "breathed" with millions on radio, T.V., in print, on stage, over the Internet, presenting locally and globally. Renown also as Mama Ayo, she has performed as a storyteller, re-enactor and ceremonial facilitator, featured at numerous Kwanzaa, Juneteenth and D.C. Emancipation Day programs since the '80's. She helped to co-found the Friends of D.C. Emancipation Day and is proud to be one of the early "foot soldiers" of Ms. Loretta Carter Hanes, the reviver of D.C.E.D., helping her re-start the cities commemorative parade. She has produced several books on health and culture, along with 9 DVD's and 5 CDs of healing and cultural music with her husband John and their "Earth Love Tune Up Crew (ELTUC). Her Ritual of Reconciliation as the foundation ritual of Black Love Day, has been shared in Benin and Liberia, West Africa as well as in the "hoods" of her home-town Washington, D.C. and current home of Capitol Heights, Md. offering healing to increase peace and stop violence.
