Each one of us carries the weight of unseen grief. Our hearts and minds can carry heavy loads, marked by loss, illness, lonliness, and memories only we know. We do our best to show up every day and shine our soul’s light despite personal and collective tragedies.
Ancient and wise cultures knew the necessity of feeling and healing in community. Our region has seen a blossoming of community grief lodges in recent years to balance and hold us through times like these. In the deepening of Autumn, we gather on Orcas island to root into this work together again.
In the lineage tradition of spiritual elders, philosophers and poets Malidoma Somé, Francis Weller, Joanna Macy, Martín Prechtel and others, supported by somatic experiencing, nature connection and the timeless technologies of drum and dance - we come together to lighten our load and fill our hearts, minds and spirits with gratitude once again.
Join Orcas community co-facilitators Hayley Shannon, Sea Thorpe, and Rayel on traditional Coast Salish lands to weave a container of trust, witness and belonging strong enough to hold us in our grief, and wide enough to fill with songs and dance for inviting beauty back home into our hearts.
