A provocative romantic comedy set in the 1980s
When Pam’s husband of four years leaves her with nothing but a note, telling her he has left her for another woman, her carefully managed life is thrown into chaos. As she tries to make sense of what comes next, Pam leans on her best friend Lizzy, fearless, funny, and unapologetically herself. Where Pam is cautious and generous to a fault, Lizzy leads with instinct and humour, pushing her friend to laugh again, take chances, and remember who she was before everything fell apart. Their friendship, warm, honest, and full of heart, anchors the story and reminds us that some of the most important love stories are between friends.
An unexpected phone call soon changes everything. Jake, a newly arrived potato farmer and the husband of the other woman, is just as blindsided and searching for answers. When Pam reluctantly agrees to meet him, an awkward encounter unfolds into something unexpectedly tender. As their stories collide, common ground emerges, along with laughter, connection, and the possibility of new beginnings.
Witty, heartfelt, and laugh-out-loud funny, Common Ground is a rom-com about love in all its forms, romantic love, lost love, and the friendships that carry us through.
Why not make it a whole night out.
Grab your partner, your girlfriends, or your favourite plus-one. Tease your hair, pull on your boldest ’80s look, and lean into the era with big styles, bright colours, denim, shoulder pads, and retro flair. Whether it’s date night, Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s, or a girls’ night out, this is theatre as an experience, meant to be shared, dressed up, and enjoyed together.
