Daniel McGinn at the Ugly Mug!

If you lived in Southern California the odds are good that you’ve heard of Daniel McGinn, he's been involved in the local poetry community for over 30 years. He recently retired to Little River, South Carolina, near the Atlantic Ocean and Carolina Woods. This is a rare visit to his old stomping grounds. He’s thrilled to read at the Ugly Mug; it really is a home away from home. The poet, Rachel McKibben, has said of Daniel McGinn, his writing speaks with a skinless honesty. It is never overdressed and even his sorrows are strangely comforting. I envy anyone that gets to experience McGinn’s poetry for the first time.

Daniel will be sharing new poems from a collector’s chapbook that will be on sale at the reading.

Daniel McGinn’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies. His recent chapbook, Drowning the Boy, won the James Tate Poetry Prize for 2021. It was published by SurVision in Dublin Ireland. Fill Me with Birds (with Scott Ferry), published by Meat For Tea in February, 2024. The Moon, My Lover, My Mother & the Dog, published by Moon Tide Press, and 1000 Black Umbrellas (Write Bloody) are all available from your favorite bookseller.
