Artist Bio:
Mona Rogers was born in Weiser, ID and grew up on a ranch in Cambridge, Idaho.
Because Mona started her college career at Treasure Valley Community College, she transferred to Oregon College of Education, and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certificate from Oregon State University, in 1982.
Teaching home economics, business, economics, and journalism was a great joy for Mona. “I would start all over and do it again if I could,” Mrs. Rogers explained. Her career lasted 32 years, and included 3 years in Midvale, 9 years at Ontario Middle School, and 12 years at Nyssa MS/HS. Mona retired from teaching in 2015.
At home, Mrs. Rogers is married and has 5 children with her husband, John. With the kids all gone, Mona decided to start a U-tube cooking channel, Mrs. Rogers’ Kitchen. Her first video explains how to microwave a turkey using foil. Next, she started a business making sanitary restroom kits, and got her real estate license.
She needed some relaxation, so Mrs. Rogers started drawing and painting. Many of her works are of much loved pets who are no longer with us, and made for gifts.
“I want to give all the glory to God for every one of these art pieces, and for this show. God put something in my heart and hand that I cannot take credit for. God is the giver of gifts and the greatest gift of all in my life,” Mona continued, “God has given me way more than I ever dreamed possible.”
For the Four Rivers Art Show, Mona intentionally included a variety of pieces to make it more interesting to the visitors. She explained, “I really hope that everyone finds something that makes them smile, or touches their heart.”
