In this class, you will learn the art of needle felting and how to create a felted design on fabric. Choose a design from a small selection of patterns or create your own. You’ll learn how to transfer a pattern to fabric, fill in the design with roving, and needle felt the fiber securely in place. Or, skip the pattern entirely and let your design evolve organically.
We will be working on upholstery fabric samples of varying weights and textures. Some fabrics include woven designs that can be incorporated into your felted piece, adding interest and inspiration to your work. This is a very simple, approachable form of needle felting and provides a great foundation for understanding the process. The sky is the limit when it comes to the design you create.
This class is suitable for beginners and those looking for a relaxed, creative introduction to needle felting on fabric.
Finishing options are described on our website and can be completed at home.
WHAT IS NEEDLE FELTING
Needle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact. Both two and three dimensional pieces can be created using this craft.
