Beginning this holiday season, our village Christmas Tree will be a 40+ foot tall, living Blue Spruce located in our Village Park. A tree lighting ceremony will be held on December 6th, complete with a choir, hot cocoa and snack vendors and, of course, a visit from Santa.
As a part of this new holiday tradition, the Village of Onsted is creating its own Adopt-A-Tree program. Much like the Adrian Comstock Riverwalk Tree Festival, businesses and families can adopt a tree for the season. For a fee of just $70 the village will provide a lit, 6-8 foot, fresh-cut Douglas Fir in the area surrounding the Village Christmas Tree. A sign will identify whose tree it is. Adopters can decorate their tree as they choose. Trees will remain on display until after the new year. At the ceremony, a prize will be awarded for the “best dressed” business and family tree.
Your adoption fee will go to cover the cost of tree, lights, etc. Any remaining proceeds will be donated in order to fund future park improvements.
Adoption applications and information have been distributed to village businesses and are available in the Village Office. Advertise your business, show your family’s village spirit or honor a loved one. But hurry. Supply is limited and trees must be ordered from the farm soon.
And special thanks to your Onsted DDA for their generous donation of the lights for the primary tree.
