About the event

Nights at The Joslyn: Made in the Plains
"Made in the Plains"

Monthly Nights at The Joslyn events are free evenings for art immersion. Come out for art talks, art making, special programs, and tasty food and drinks (for purchase). Celebrate artistic creativity tonight as we shine a spotlight on the 20 artists whose work fills our
"Made in the Plains" exhibition.

A look at the fun this month from 5–8 pm:

• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the evening. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Curator Conversations*, 6-6:45 pm, with "Made in the Plains" artist Lee Emma Running and Taylor J. Acosta, PhD, Chief Curator & Director of Collections. Each month, Joslyn Art Museum curators, scholars, and community partners will have conversations about works of art in our collection and exhibitions. *ASL interpretation provided.
• Enjoy a music performance by Aly Peeler and Alexander Olsen. Aly Peeler, Omaha-based, creates original music that touches upon themes of social and environmental justice, self-acceptance, and love and loss. Collaborating with Sioux Falls native Alexander Olsen, her stories are launched into new territory, weaving in the language of jazz, the discipline of classical piano, and the fire of improvisation.
• In the studio, create your own work of art.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, "Made in the Plains" tickets are free to all from 4-8 pm today; always free to Joslyn members.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).

Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
