Tuesday, Sept. 30, the first of three sections of the acclaimed documentary, "John Lewis: Good Trouble," will be screened beginning at 6 p.m. in the Gallery of the Olean Public Library.
The special screening chronicles Lewis' lifelong advocacy for civil rights and honors his enduring legacy of nonviolent resistance.
"Good Trouble means standing up for justice through strategic, peaceful action," said Kristin, a member of a sponsoring organization, Love in Action. "This film reminds us of the moral courage and discipline John Lewis championed--a call to challenge injustice, defend voting rights and make necessary trouble for the sake of a better society."
The viewing will be followed by a community discussion on cultivating "good trouble" in the viewers' lives to protect democracy and promote justice. The program offers opportunities for civic engagement and light refreshments will be served.
