About the event

James Montgomery & Sean Chambers and the Savoy Brown Rhythm Section Blues/Blues Rock Co-Bill
James Montgomery
The James Montgomery Blues Band is recognized as one of the best of its kind in the country.

Almost every Blues enthusiast is familiar with the transition of Blues from its’ rural roots in the Delta of the deep South to the urban Blues of often industrialized Northern cities.

Among those who were part of this Great Migration were some of the South’s greatest Blues Masters including, among others, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy and Matt Guitar Murphy.

What is often overlooked, is the reverse journey. The journey, or pilgrimage, of a subsequent generation of urban whites back to the Delta to experience first hand the ambience of cities like Clarksdale Mississippi in hopes of connecting with both the visceral and spiritual elements of the Blues that permeate these areas like a God struck slide guitar.

This Journey that started in Detroit in 1949 and culminated at the Crossroads. A journey that finally led to Clarksdale after years Detroit born and raised harp man and his band make their first trip to the Crossroads, to Clarksdale, to Ground Zero, to all the places that had so much meaning for them but they had never seen.

Sean Chambers and the Savoy Brown Rhythm Section
“Chambers has style all his own, unequaled by no other Blues artist.” Rick Davis – Crossroads Blues Society

Florida born Sean Chambers began his career in the Blues back in 1998 when he toured with the late great legendary Hubert Sumlin as his guitarist and band leader until 2003. During Sean’s tenure with Mr. Sumlin, Britain’s own Guitarist magazine named Chambers as “One of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century (Guitarist Magazine).
In 2020, Chambers went into the studio to record his 8th album That’s What I’m Talkin About . The music showcases a tour-de force of Sean’s blazing guitar pyrotechnics.

Florida Music Hall of Fame Inductee Sean Chambers teamed up with the Savoy Brown Rhythm Section in 2022, and they have been touring together ever since. Savoy Brown’s founder and fearless leader, Kim Simmonds passed away in December of 2022 after giving his blessing to the new union. Together, this fantastic trio is presently one of the “hottest” combos on the music scene today…appearing the world over, taking it to the streets!
A refreshingly humble artist, razor clean fretwork and a great passion for the material he writes and plays… A musician’s musician who is loved and respected by all in the industry! “Chambers is clearly one of the top Blues guitarists on the scene today.”

(Henry L. Carrigan Jr., LIVING BLUES)
