Performing songwriter and singer Dan Johnston weaves tales of love and heartbreak around murder ballads and story songs.
Johnston leaves the listener moved by the poetic simplicity of his lyrics built upon strong and direct voicings on acoustic guitar.
Self-styled as Country-Cana, a refined blend of Old School Country and today’s Americana, Johnston’s songs deliver on both counts.
Dan has played many top venues and is comfortable in any setting, indoors or out, solo or with a band, bar or performance hall, and always delivers a straightforward and heartfelt performance of the true to life songs he has written.

Beth Lee is an award winning songwriter who migrated from Austin, TX to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Her writing is heavily influenced by bluegrass and classic country music. She is passionate about writing lyrically diverse songs - songs that invite the listener to go on a journey, to be taken away by the story.

His voice is of a man who emerged from the mountains hell bent on crafting songs that are true to his life and relevant to ours. Fans reference writers like Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt when describing Kevin's lyrics, story telling and heartfelt delivery. At AVLfest in 2024, a song writer from Nashville told Fiddle Man that he drove six hours to see Planefolk just to get back to the emotional roots of songwriting that can get lost in production houses of Nashville. We all need to get back to the core of our humanity, Kevin helps us get there.
