SYNOPSIS

Decision Height tells a story about friendship and the complex though essential role of women in wartime. Virginia Hascall has left her home and fiancé to become a Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP), doing her part to help defeat the Axis powers in World War II. Through triumph and tragedy, Virginia and her sisters in flight suits learn as much about themselves as they do about airplanes. As the war rages over there, the women form a sisterhood that cannot be broken, and Virginia must make a decision that will change her life forever.

With a cast of nine vibrant female characters, Decision Height offers a look into an under-recognized subset of American heroes.

CAST (9)

Virginia Hascall - empathetic, observant, late teens - early 20s (female-presenting)
Virginia enters the WASPs after leaving behind a safe, traditional life and her fiancé. She is sheltered and inexperienced and she is quietly overwhelmed by the world she has chosen.

Edith “Eddie” Harkness - hothead, defiant, late teens - early 30s (female-presenting)
Eddie is blunt, sharp-tongued, and fiercely independent, known for her quick wit, hot temper, and natural ability as a pilot. She swears freely, challenges authority, and relies on instinct rather than academics, often getting herself into trouble for speaking her mind. This character says “Goddammit,” “God-damn,” and other variations of swear words.

Norma Jean Harris - commanding, nurturing, mid 20s - early 30s (female-presenting)
Norma Jean is a confident squadron leader who carries herself with grace, discipline, and warmth. With a refined Southern presence and strong religious faith, she balances authority with compassion, becoming a maternal figure to the group. This character speaks with a high-class North Carolina or Georgia accent.

Rosalie Hartson - sweet, soft, late teens - early 30s (female-presenting)
Rosalie is a gentle dreamer whose bravery lies in trying despite knowing she may not be strong enough. A music teacher from Iowa, she is artistic, soft spoken, and eager to belong, but struggles physically and emotionally under the demands of training. This character sings and may possibly play an instrument.

Alice Hawkins - intelligent, early 20s - early 30s (female-presenting)
Alice is cool-headed and precise, and approaches flying and leadership with logic and discipline. As a flight lieutenant, she is the first to fly solo and commands respect through competence rather than charm.

Carol Henderson - sassy, bold, late teens - early 20s (female-presenting)
Carol is brazen, with a restless energy. Nicknamed Shrimp, she wears cowboy boots, flirts easily, and leads with enthusiasm more than skill, eager to prove she belongs.

Mrs. Deaton - firm, commanding, mid 30s - Late 50s (female-presenting)
Mrs. Deaton is a steady, authoritative presence who serves as the program's practical backbone. As a government employee, she runs things with discipline and clarity, offering structure rather than sentimentality.

Ziggie Lewis - confident, strong, likeable, early 30s - Late 40s (female-presenting)
Ziggie is a confident, no-nonsense flight instructor who commands the room without raising her voice. Strong-willed and self-assured, she represents a generation of women who have already fought to earn their place and refuse to apologize for it.

Mildred Simmons - guarded, rule-follower, late teens - early 30s (female-presenting)
As a flight lieutenant, Mildred believes rules and hierarchy exist for a reason and is willing to report others if she believes it maintains order.

CHARACTER ADVISORY: All characters will interact with adult themes including mental wellness, and either interact with, observe, or perform staged intimacy. (All intimacy will be choreographed by an intimacy coordinator.)
