Join us for a morning bird count at Don Williams Park while we hike through the trails looking for our feathered friends. This isn’t any old bird count. This is the Great Backyard Bird Count. In a backyard bird count we ask that you spend 15 minutes minimum to count and ID as many birds as possible that you can find. The data will then be submitted to birdcount.org and will be used to help us understand birds a little better.
We will start at Lodge by the Lake with a short presentation about this global citizen science project and discuss the basics of birding. From there you can go out on your own or join us at white tail picnic area to venture out to the bird blind.
Binoculars provided, you may bring your own if you like.
This is a FREE event. But looking for donations for updating bird blind and bird conservation projects.
Bird nerds and beginner birders both welcomed!
