The public library is the largest cultural institution in Denmark. Ever since the first public library law was passed in 1920, it has promoted enlightenment, education, and cultural activity.
On this day, you can take a tour of Odense Main Library and see and hear more about what it means—100 years later.
We’ll explore many corners of the library and witness 100 years of library development, from the oldest, dusty books hidden away in the basement to a high-tech computer system that helps manage 24 million annual book loans in Denmark.
You’ll also get to relive the scent of vinyl records and CDs in Scandinavia’s largest music collection, hear more about plans for an even bigger children’s library, and, in general, find out what makes it truly 'The Citizens’ House.'
There will also be time for practical questions and informations as well as help to register as a borrower at the Odense Libraries if you want to.
✅The tour is in English. Please sign up for the event.
