Join us for a special afternoon with Thaxton Studios as we celebrate the life and legacy of literary icon Eudora Welty. This free event begins with a screening of the acclaimed documentary Eudora, followed by a panel discussion exploring Welty’s creative ties to Walter Anderson and the Southern storytelling tradition. The event will conclude with a book signing of Eudora, the richly illustrated companion volume to the film.
The film, praised for its intimate and revealing interviews, paints a vivid portrait of Eudora Welty’s wit, daring, and profound sense of place. Featuring rarely seen photographs, personal letters, manuscripts, and artwork, the companion book further immerses readers in Welty’s world.
The documentary and book were both released to rave reviews at the Mississippi Book Festival in 2024 and aired on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
The Creators:
Amy Bryant Thaxton, Executive Director of the Institute for Southern Storytelling, educator, and lead researcher behind Eudora
