Women's autonomy and environmental stewardship

Empowering women and increasing their autonomy has been shown to result in better environmental outcomes.

Knowledge and practices: Women, particularly in Indigenous and local communities, often hold valuable traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) due to their roles in food production, water collection, and land management. This knowledge is crucial for conservation and sustainable practices.

Economic empowerment: When women have secure land rights and access to resources, they can improve agricultural productivity and invest more in sustainable practices. This can help reduce the pressure to clear more land and contribute to food security.

Decision-making: Research shows that the inclusion of women in environmental governance leads to more effective and sustainable decisions. Countries with more female representation in government, for example, are more likely to ratify international environmental treaties.

Collective action for change

Ecofeminism emphasizes collective action to resist patriarchal structures and environmental exploitation.

Grassroots movements: Women have been at the forefront of numerous environmental justice movements globally, using collective action to protect their communities.

This will be our topic... Im not sure what craft we will do just yet...

We will also be discussing the Doctrine of Discovery and how this is linked to Christianity as many know it now...
